Della Mae Roberts, 99, of Carbon Hill, Alabama, passed away peacefully on Friday, August 19, 2022. She was 46 days from her 100th birthday.
Della was a member of Carbon Hill Freewill Baptist Church. She was the youngest of her siblings and spent the majority of her life in Carbon Hill with a short time in both California and South Carolina. She married her husband in 1942 after only a 6-week courtship and it lasted for 65 years before his death. She retired from Arrow Shirt Factory. Della was a faithful pastor’s wife, dedicated mother, wonderful grandmother, great-grandmother and great-great-grandmother. She will be missed by all who knew her.
The family will receive friends on Monday, August 22, 2022 at 1:30 p.m. at Collins-Burke Funeral Home, funeral services will follow at 2 p.m. in the Collins-Burke Chapel. Burial will be at Pocahontas Freewill Cemetery in Carbon Hill. Lee Majors and Robert Dale Cheatwood will be officiating.
Della is preceded in death by her Husband, William Roberts; Sons, William Roberts Jr and Kenneth Roberts; Daughter-in-Law-Sarah Roberts; Grandson, Michael Roberts; Parents, Jacob Patrick and Sarah Cheatwood; Brothers, Duff, EP, and Silvester Cheatwood; Sisters, May Smith, Lillar Davis, Drucella Dooley, Arella Mayhew, Cordelia Faulkner, Maggie Essary, and Flossie Cheatwood.
She is survived by her Daughter-in-Law, Gayla Roberts; Grandchildren, Yolanda(Lee) Majors, Tracy(Alan) Fuller and William Allen Roberts lll; Great-Grandchildren, Corey(Hannah) Fuller, Amanda(Stephen) Brown, Kristen(Jacob) Floore, and Brittany(Jacob) Irvin; Great-Great-Grandchildren, Will Fuller and Eden Floore; A host of Nieces and Nephews.
