At approximately 11 am, Jasper Police were notified of a bomb threat called in to Walker Baptist Medical Center.
Jasper Police, along with Jasper Fire and Walker County Sheriff’s Office personnel responded to the scene and secured the buildings.
During the course of the investigation, Jasper Police learned that another threat had been called into a fast food establishment in Sumiton and Cullman Regional Medical Center. The suspect in all three threats was identified as a 14-year-old student at a county school and is currently in a juvenile detention facility awaiting charges.
The hospital was cleared, and there is no threat to the public.
“I appreciate the hard work from our officers and investigators, as well as the assistance from the Walker County Sheriff’s Office,” said Jasper Police Chief J. C. Poe. “Our patrol officers did an outstanding job of responding to the hospital and locking everything down. I’m glad we were able to bring this to a close and identify a suspect so quickly.”
