Walker County Sheriff’s Office deputies, U.S. Marshals Fugitive Task Force and Cordova Police Department captured a subject wanted for murder by the Blount County Sheriff’s Office.
The subject was captured in the woods behind a residence on River Road in Cordova.
Norman Wayne Griffin, 57, of Oneonta, was taken into custody and will be extradited to the Blount County Jail.
On Tuesday, a 911 call was made regarding a domestic dispute with shots fired at 302 Valley View Dr in Oneonta. Deputies from the Blount County Sheriffs Office and officers from the Oneonta Police Department arrived on the scene and found two victims on the ground with gunshot wounds. One victim, a 58-year-old male, was pronounced deceased on the scene. A second victim, a 44-year-old female, was transported to St Vincents Blount and later released.
The shooter, Griffin, was picked up by a friend, John Moorehouse, and taken to a location outside of Blount County and dropped off. Moorehouse later came to the Blount County Sheriffs Office where he was interviewed by investigators and has been charged with hindering prosecution in the first degree.
