Carbon Hill to auction surplus items

CARBON HILL – Mayor David Phillips announced during the Carbon Hill City Council meeting on Thursday night that the city would be auctioning surplus equipment and vehichles.

Vehichles:

• 2015 Freightliner sanitation truck – 157,878 miles, has new motor

• 2007 Freightliner garbage truck – 170,116 miles, no A/C, major oil leak, but does run

• 2005 Ford Crown Victoria, Silver – 151,830 miles, does not run

• 2007 Ford Crown Victoria, White – 200,000 miles, dead battery, body damage

• 2009 Dodge Charger, Gold – 142,610 miles, no A/C, dead battery, body damage

• 2008 Dodge Charger, Black – 108,000 miles, dead battery, doesn’t idle, smokes

• 2009 Dodge Charger, White – 195,000 miles, needs new ball joints, doesn’t crank

Other equipment:

• 2005 Massey tractor with blade

• one side hog for a Ford  6610 Tigercat tractor

• two 2014 Bobcat lawn mowers

• sixteen good/great dumpsters

• seven decent dumpsters

• eight scrap dumpsters

• one backpack leafblower

• one Coke-a-Cola vending machine, not working

Sealed bids will be taken until October 7th, and the city reserves the right to reject any bid.

The council also announced that it will receive $10,000 in grant funding for additional work on the children’s park. $2,500 of the grant is already budgeted for adding swings and gravel, and the city intends to add tables and benches as well.
