Coroner’s office gets new vehicles

The Walker County Coroner’s Office received some much needed equipment on Monday afternoon. Two Ford Expedition XLs were purchased with funds from a CDBG Grant to be used for the coroner’s office.

Walker County Coroner Joey Vick said the vehicles were a definite upgrade.

“It’s been a long time coming and we’ve come a long way with the help of the Walker County Commission,” Vick said. “We went from a 1995 Astro Van to a 2002 Ford Expedition, so we’ve come a long way and we are thankful to have them.”

County Commission Chair Steve Miller was excited that the vehicles will be put to good use.

“The Commission certainly appreciates our coroner–he does an excellent job,” Miller said. “With the help of these grants, we can move Walker County forward. We appreciate everything that the Coroner, the Deputy Coroner, and their staff is doing.”
