SUMITON – Sumiton Christian scored five touchdowns in the first quarter en route to a 54-21 homecoming win over Talladega County Central.
Austin Scobey started the game with a bang for the Eagles (4-2, 2-2).by returning the opening kickoff 82 yards for a touchdown. After 13 seconds, Sumiton Christian led 6-0.
A touchdown run from Kannem DeFoor and three touchdowns (two passing, one rushing) from Jake White pushed the Eagles to 34-0 at the end of the first quarter. White connected with Noah Godwin and Brody Berger on touchdown passes.
TCC got on the board about halfway through the second quarter, but the Eagles answered with 20 straight points. DeFoor scored his second touchdown of the night, while White connected with Ashton on a scoring strike, and Rusty McDonald scored on a 25-yard run. Sumiton Christian led 54-8 at the end of the third quarter.
Talladega County Central managed two touchdowns in the second half.
Sumiton Christian will travel to Millport to face South Lamar in a Class 1A, Region 5 game.
