Jasper breweries now under same ownership

The two breweries in downtown Jasper, Tallulah Brewing Company and Twisted Barley Brewing Company are now under the same umbrella.

The merger was announced on Thursday, which was also the five-year anniversary of Twosted Barley.

“We are excited for the next chapter of both breweries and believe this move will make both brands stronger over the long term as we continue to serve our patrons in downtown Jasper,” said Drew Gilbert, managing partner of both breweries now.

As a part of this transition, the Twisted Barley taproom on 19th street will no longer keep regular hours. Tallulah will continue to operate its taproom on 4th Avenue as usual.

“You can expect more products, styles both old and new and an overall growth in product offerings,” Gilbert said. “We will be able to offer increased production capabilities for both breweries and expand packaged product offerings.”

Gilbert added the initial plan is to “layer in some additional events and collaborations” between the two breweries.

“While the taproom at Twisted will not have regular hours for now, you can expect many special opening dates, private event bookings, pub crawls, production brewery touris, pop up special releases and much more,” Gilbert said.

Plans also include renovating the upstairs at Twisted Barley, according to Gilbert.

Mason Boren, former chief executive officer of Twisted Barley, said in a Facebook post opening and operating the brewery was the hardest thing he had ever done, but it allowed him to meet “some really awesome folks and do some really awesome things.”

“I will still be around, and I look forward to many more years of Rampint Idiocy, and other delicious Twisted Barley beers,” Boren said.

Gilbert said the plan is to continue brewing some of the most popular beers from Twisted Barley, while also offering new brews.

“Hang in there with us as we work to create a truly collaborative beer scene with two local brands,” Gilbert said.
