The 2022 Foothills Festival, presented by Coca-Cola returns to downtown Jasper this weekend.
Drive-By Truckers, the Saturday night headliner, features Jasper native Matt Patton on bass guitar.
Anderson East, an Athens, Alabama, native who will headline Friday night, is a Grammy-nominated artist who has seen his popularity rise in the last few years.
The Friday lineup will be Charlie Argo at 5 p.m., Adam Hood at 6:30, Marc Broussard at 8 and East at 9:30 p.m.
Heavy rains and possible thunderstorms are expected beginning early Friday morning. Forecasts are calling for scattered thunderstorms in the morning becoming more widespread in the chance of rain 80 percent. Locally heavy rainfall is possible.
Zach Baker, talent buyer for the festival, said it’s a rain or shine event, with artists prepared to play as long as weather is not severe.
Supper Club will kick off the Saturday lineup at 3 p.m., The Wildflowers at 3:45, Ian Moore at 5, Paul Thorn at 6:30, Samantha Fish at 8 and Drive-By Truckers at 9:30.
Street closings will begin by 6 a.m. on Friday. Side streets and limited access will be available, but no 19th Street access will be available after this is completed. All parking spaces will be closed on 19th Friday morning. There should be no parking on 19th St. after 6 a.m. on Friday.
An emergency meeting of the Walker County Commission was held last week regarding the closing of the courthouse and downtown offices on Friday. Due to the Foothills Festival, the courthouse, probate, office, and courthouse annex will close at noon. Walker County Solid Waste (landfill) and the Walker County Sheriff’s Office will remain open.
