Jasper proclaims Alabama College Application Week

Jasper Mayor David O’Mary and the Jasper City Council on Tuesday proclaimed October 17-21 as Alabama College Application Week in Jasper.

This week students across Alabama can get their college application fee waived when they apply to certain colleges and universities in Alabama and across the southeast. Alabama College Application Week started in 2012 to increase the number of students applying for postsecondary education.

With the assistance of Jasper High School Career Coach Monique Lawrence, this marks the first year Jasper has proclaimed the third week in October as Alabama College Application Week. O’Mary presented the proclamation to Lawrence and Jasper High School senior Logan Naramore and junior Katelyn Thursby. The city wished area students the best of luck to students who apply this week.
