Parrish bringing back Christmas parade

PARRISH – After a two-year absence, the Town of Parrish will hold a Christmas parade. Parrish had a “drive-thru” parade event last year and no parade in 2020 due to the COVID-19 pandemic. 

The Parrish parade will be Thursday, Dec. 8, at 6 p.m., with line-up starting at 5 p.m. A holiday festival will be at Parrish Elementary/Middle School after the parade. 

A QR code can also be used, found at the Town of Parrish’ Facebook page or attached to this story. Information can also be picked up at Parrish Town Hall. 

“We’re bringing it back. We’re excited,” Mayor Bubba Cagle said Wednesday. “We want as many entries as possible. This will be a big deal for our town.”

Christmas Parade Rules

Entry forms must be submitted by November 11th to be included in the parade.  Entry forms can emailed to [email protected] and can be mailed to or dropped off at:

You will receive email and phone confirmation by November 18th of parade entry and assigned number of parade line-up. Also, parade details will be included in the confirmation email.  If you do not receive this information by 11/19/2022, please contact Thomas Kyzer at 205-530-4653 or [email protected].

Parade entries must be in line (in the road at the old bank property by 5:00pm.  Guidance will be provided at the old bank property.  

The parade will start at the old bank property @ 6:00 pm sharp.  

No other SANTA is allowed. Santa Claus is provided by the organization committee.

All entries must be decorated in the holiday/Christmas theme: including the golf carts, wagons, bike’s, etc.

All entries must clearly display the name of the organization or business.

Both sides of floats and vehicles must be decorated.

All individuals who operate any vehicle must possess a driver’s license and be at least 21 years of age.  

For safety reasons, no one is allowed to “throw” candy to the crowd. However, walkers alongside entries may hand out candy, or lightly toss candy.

PLEASE consider the safety of your parade participants, especially children sitting on or in the “float” you created.  ALL children participating should have adult supervision.

Dress for the weather. It is usually cold in the evening.

No vulgar items or profanity should be used in any capacity on your cart decorations. 

Judging:

Judges will evaluate the parade entries based on their overall theme. 

All entries will be judged during the parade and the results will be announced at the post parade activities at the Parrish Elementary/Middle School gymnasium. 

Judging Criteria:

Overall Appearance (0-25 Points) Does the float look good?  Does the float go with the parade theme – Christmas?  

Construction Quality (0-25) How well is the float put together?  Difficulty of the construction. 

Originality (0-25 Points) Is it something out of the ordinary?  Is the idea of the float projecting the Christmas Theme?

Movable Parts Extra Points (0-15 Points) Awarded for movable parts.

Banner and Lettering Extra Points (0-10 Points) Can it be read?  Is it neat?  Does it use eye-catching, colorful, and creative materials?
