HAMILTON – Bevill State Community College’s automobile technician-training program on the Hamilton Campus has received Master Automobile Service Technician re-accreditation through 2027 from the Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) Education Foundation. This is the highest level of program accreditation recognized by the National Institute for Automotive Service Excellence. This certifies that Bevill State’s lead instructors are professionals and can provide advanced-level instruction that prepares students to take ASE Certification tests.
The BSCC Vehicle Technology and Repair Program (VTR) prepares technicians for employment in new vehicle dealerships, independent repair establishments, auto body repair shops, fleet service centers, and rental organizations. Students are educated to work on current model vehicles in this comprehensive, Automotive Service Excellence (ASE) certified training program. Through classroom and lab activities, students gain the knowledge and experience necessary to obtain an Associate in Applied Science degree, long-term certificate, or short-term certificate (obtainable in three semesters), allowing them to pursue employment in vehicle repair industries. The ASE Education Foundation is a non-profit organization that evaluates and accredits entry-level automotive technology education programs against standards developed by the automotive service industry. Accreditation through ASE Education Foundation signifies that a program meets the highest industry standards and speaks to the quality of the program’s faculty, curriculum, and overall operations. According to the ASE Education Foundation, accreditation is a five-step process in evaluating a college’s automotive service program, its structure, processes, resources, materials, and mission.
