Jasper schools recognize teachers of the year

Superintendent Ann Jackson & the Jasper City Board of Education recognized each school’s Teacher of the Year and announced JCS District Winners at this week’s board meeting.

“Congratulations to you all,” Jackson said. “You’re all top notch and make us proud.”

LOCAL WINNERS:

Linda Runyan- T R Simmons

Carino Rios- Memorial Park School

Lisa Mellott- Maddox Intermediate

Amy Stracner- Jasper Junior High

Jackee Key- Jasper High School

DISTRICT WINNERS:

Elementary – Carina Rios

Secondary – Amy Stracner

James Phillips
James Phillips is a proud native of the Walker County community of Empire. He currently lives in Jasper with Andrea, his wife of 23 years, and his five children, Stone, Breeze, Daisy, Joy, and Zuzu. Phillips has won nearly 200 awards over his 26-year career in media. He has also been a statewide and regional speaker on the social media/digital media within the newspaper industry. Phillips hobbies include spending time with his family and owning Jasper-based New Era Wrestling.
