Walker County School Superintendent Dr. Dennis Willingham was sworn in on Friday to serve his first full term.
The swearing-in was held during the board staff’s Christmas party. Willingham was sworn in by District Judge Henry Allred. Tana Collins-Allred held the Bible. Willingham said he wanted it to be a low-key ceremony.
“Since I was just sworn in two years ago, I didn’t want to make a big deal of it, so we just did it at the Christmas party,” he said.
Willingham became interim superintendent of Walker County Schools in late 2020 and was appointed superintendent by the Walker County Board of Education in February 2021. He has a nearly 30-year career in education.Â
