The Western Welding Academy’s Blue Collar Tour paid a visit Monday to the Walker County Center of Technology in Jasper.
Students from Walker County and Jasper City schools, and several other counties had an opportunity to take part in the event.
“The 2023 Blue Collar Tour is an exciting way to get high school students interested in the Blue Collar Trades. With all of the distractions and short attention span in todays kid’s, we create an experience that has never been done by a trade school before,” the tour said through its website.
Shannon Freeman, counselor at WCCT, said hundreds of students from across the state were at Monday’s event. WCCT was the only stop in Alabama for the 2023 tour, which is visiting 30 schools in 60 days. WCCT was the 14th stop on the nationwide tour.
The Blue Collar tour arrived in Jasper with a bus, welding rig and a trailer full of giveaways. The event lasted several hours and included hands on welding demonstrations, SWAG and tool giveaways, and highlights of the benefits of blue collar trades in America.
