The Walker Area Community Foundation announced Wednesday that Kevin Callahan has been named the new chairman of its board of directors.
Callahan, owner and general manager of Honda of Jasper and Hyundai of Jasper, said he was honored by the appointment.
“What a great honor to be able to have my name associated with a great organization like the Walker Area Community Foundation,” Callahan said. “To be trusted with this position is something that I don’t take lightly and look forward to the opportunity to learn from the team that runs the day to day projects that the Foundation undertakes.”
The Foundation made the announcement in a Facebook post. It is a two-year term.
“Kevin Callahan is no stranger to our community, as he and his wife Pam have been active in Walker County for many years,” the post stated. “We want to congratulate Kevin on his appointment as chairman, and we look forward to seeing our Foundation grow under his leadership.”
Over the last three years, Robbin Reed Allen has been the chairman of the WACF board of directors.
“We celebrate all the Foundation’s accomplishments under her leadership, including giving away more than $18 million to worthy nonprofit recipients,” the group said in a separate Facebook post.
Paul Kennedy, executive director of the WACF, said he is looking forward to working with Callahan and appreciated Allen’s leadership in recent years.
“I am looking forward to working with the board under his leadership,” Kennedy said. “We have a significant plan of work laid out for the year and we will need to be effective and efficient.
“Robbin Reed Allen provided firm and steady guidance over the last three years of tremendous growth for thee Foundation. We expect the same during Mr. Callahan’s tenure,” he added.
