An officer with the Parrish Police Department attempted to stop a vehicle Wednesday near Parrish Cordova Highway.
The vehicle stopped briefly, and two females exited the vehicle. The driver of the vehicle drove away at a high rate of speed, nearly striking another vehicle head on. The officer pursued the vehicle toward Cordova and the pursuit went onto Interstate 22.
Officers with the Cordova and Dora police departments arrived to assist with the pursuit.
As the pursuit continued on I22, the driver of the vehicle threw a container of Tannerite toward the pursuing officers. Near the Walker/Jefferson County line, the offender accelerated toward a Dora Police vehicle ahead of the pursuit. The offender intentionally rammed the rear of the Dora Police vehicle, which causyed the officer to crash into a ravine. The offender briefly continued on I22 until he lost control of his vehicle and drove off the roadway. The offender fled the vehicle and ran on foot into a wooded area.
The Alabama Department of Corrections K-9 Unit and Jefferson County Sheriff’s Aviation Unit responded to the area.
The offender was tracked by the K-9 Unit and was found hiding under a house, where he was taken into custody. The offender was identified as Brandon Scott Moore Swack, age 29 of Morris.
Swack has an extensive criminal history and is currently out on bond in Jefferson County for an Assault 2nd charge involving a firearm, Theft of Property 1st Degree, Criminal Mischief 1st Degree, resisting arrest, and felon in possession of a firearm.
Additionally, Swack has an outstanding warrant for Receiving Stolen Property 1st degree with the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office.  Swack is currently in the custody of the Parrish Police Department, awaiting formal charges on the pursuit from Wednesday.Â
The Dora Police Officer was transported to the hospital. He suffered minor injuries and has been released from the hospital.
