Business Spotlight: Gibson Girl

Candy Gibson is owner of Gibson Girl in downtown Jasper. Gibson’s love for fashion began when she was a freshman in college. She got her first job at a boutique in Birmingham called Mam’selle. At the striking age of 19, she fell in love with everything about the industry.

This job introduced her to a lot of important people, and before long she was assistant manager, she would also model and do print work with several companies.

When she got married she decided to move back to Jasper and open her own boutique named The Purple Peacock. She ran the store for 15 years before she sold it to spend quality time with her two boys. After several years, she began missing the fashion industry and decided to open another store, except her intentions this time were to be solely online.

This would soon change when her customers were wanting to come in to see the clothes in person, and before she knew it, she was opening up a store front as well as running her shop online.

“I am very glad I did, because I love having people stop by and shop and getting to see all the smiling faces of happy customers,” she said.

She has progressed so far that she ships all over the United States.

Gibson Girl is open Monday – Friday 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Saturday 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.
