We are excited to announce that the Walker County Center of Technology’s Rising Star for the month of December is Corbin Reed. Corbin is a senior from Cordova High School and is currently in the Electrical Technology program taught by Mark Palmer. He is the son of Phillip and Tammy Reed of Cordova. Corbin also participates in WCCT’s Work-Based Learning program under Amy Boshell’s leadership. Â
Corbin placed 3rd in the state at Skills USA in Construction Wiring/Conduit Bending. He is on the A-Honor Roll. Corbin also works while attending school. When not working, his interests include hunting, working on old cars, and traveling.
Corbin’s immediate goals are to get his journeyman electrician certification and be a 3rd year apprentice with the IBEW. After completing IBEW, he would like to one day own his own electrical business.
From Corbin: “You don’t have to go to college to have a career and make a good living. While attending WCCT, I have learned valuable skills for the workforce in a career that has a high wage salary, and I have the opportunity to meet potential employers in the industry often.”
The Walker County Center of Technology Counseling Department and The Community Journal have partnered to present a new Rising Star each month as part of the Journal’s #CommunityFirst Initiative.
