Jasper Police executed two arrest warrants and a search warrant at 2100 Delaware Avenue on Wednesday afternoon.
Officers from the Jasper Narcotics Enforcement Team arrested Nicholas Jermaine Poe, 40, of Jasper on warrants for distribution of fentanyl and meth. Officers also recovered 1 ounce of fentanyl, 1 ounce of heroin and pills believed to be laced with fentanyl. Poe will be charged with 2 counts of trafficking for the heroin and fentanyl. The pills will be sent to the Department of Forensic Science for testing.
Donald Ray Waldrop, 45, of Jasper, was also arrested on a failure to appear warrant at the scene of the search warrant. After transport to the Jasper City Jail, he was found to be in possession of narcotics. A gram of fentanyl was recovered from his clothing. He will be facing an additional charge of trafficking fentanyl.
Earlier in the week, Dario DeShaun Smith, 31, of Jasper, was arrested for distribution of meth. He is already on probation for drug-related charges.
“We see the negative impacts of these dangerous drugs every day,” Chief J.C. Poe said. “Fentanyl, heroin and meth are responsible for deaths in our city and county every day. Most of our crime can be tracked back to these drugs, and I’m proud of the work our department is doing to get them off the streets.”
