A person contacted authorities Friday night about an individual at the Walker County Airport who said he had killed 3 or 4 people and was trespassing at the airport.
Deputy Christian Emberg was the first on scene and detained the individual. Sheriff Nick Smith, Aviation Captain Ray Capps, and other deputies responded to assist.
The subject had Methamphetamine in his possession and had driven there in a stolen 1972 Chevrolet Corvette.
Other deputies did welfare checks at the location where the subject stated that he had killed people but no persons were found to be harmed.
The Winston County Sheriff’s Office made contact with the owner of the Corvette and determined that it was supposed to be stored at a location in Curry but had been stolen by this individual.
Prior to being transported to the jail, Regional Paramedical Services (RPS) responded to the scene and transported the subject to the Emergency Room for evaluation.
Jeramy Daniel Vandiver, 47, of Jasper was arrested and charged with Criminal Trespass 2nd, and Public Intoxication.
The Narcotics and Investigations Divisions are expected to bring additional charges for the drugs and stolen vehicle. Multiple firearms were recovered from the vehicle that are believed to also belong to the owner of the Corvette. The investigation continues.
