Sid Bream, whose famous game-winning slide against the Pittsburgh Pirates in Game 7 of the 1992 National League Championship Series (NCLS) propelled the Atlanta Braves to the World Series, will be speaking at the 413 Men’s Conference on Saturday, April 29 in Jasper, Alabama. The 2ndannual conference will be held in the auditorium at Jasper High School and hosted by Blanton Media Group.
Bream is part of a speaking lineup that includes former University of Alabama and Kansas City Chiefs quarterback Brodie Croyle, who now serves as President & CEO of Big Oak Ranch in Gadsden and Springville, and Francois Fineberg, a native South African who heads the Legacy School of Discipleship in Dadeville, Alabama.
A portion of the proceeds from the event will benefit Big Oak Ranch, a Christian home that has been relieving the suffering of abused, neglected, and abandoned children since 1974. The presenting sponsor is Carl Cannon Chevrolet Buick GMC in Jasper.
According to Al Blanton, conference organizer and owner of Blanton Media Group, the purpose of the conference is to help men strengthen their Christian faith with an emphasis on leading their families and living in the truth of God’s word. Over 80 men attended the inaugural two-day event in July 2022, and Blanton anticipates even more this year.
“I was really encouraged by the feedback I received from the men who attended the conference last year,” Blanton said. “This year, we tweaked a few things, made it a one-day event, and moved it to the month of April. Hopefully, that will make attendance a lot less prohibitive.”
In addition to the three guest speakers, the conference will host several breakout speakers including George Shamblin, author of The Relay and staff member at the Center for Executive Leadership in Birmingham; Bob Waldrep, President and Founder of the Crosswinds Foundation of Faith and Culture; and Robert “Bunky” Smith, former pastor at Providence Baptist Church who now serves as Director of Missions for the Muscle Shoals Baptist Association.
Online preregistration is underway at Eventbrite.com by clicking www.eventbrite.com/413mensconferenceticket. Tickets are $75 in advance and $85 at the door and include a breakfast muffin, coffee, and lunch. Blanton asks that anyone wanting a lunch ticket to register by April 20.
“Men, there is nothing more important during this time in your life than to make a stand for your faith. Your family, friends, co-workers, and community need to see what a Godly man looks like,” said Bream. “Please join me and others on April 29th at Jasper High School to be encouraged and strengthened to live anhonorable life in Christ. That weekend could literally change your whole life. Hope to see you there!”
