The lineup for the 2023 Foothills Festival was announced Friday with headliners being the Marshall Tucker Band and Creed frontman Scott Stapp.
The festival is scheduled for Friday and Saturday, Sept. 15-16 in downtown Jasper.
“The Foothills Festival has been a high profile promotional piece for Jasper and that will continue in 2023,” Mayor David O’Mary said. “The leadership team has been expanded so we are expecting big things this year.”
Other artists include Vertical Horizon and Tonic.
Zach Baker, talent buyer for the festival, said he’s excited about this year’s lineup, which should provide something for fans of just about any genre of music.
“This is one of the strongest lineups overall that we’ve had,” Baker said. “To have a performer like Scott Stapp and a legendary band like the Marshall Tucker Band is big for our festival and our city. I think we have artists that all ages will enjoy. ”
More than 100 million albums have been sold between the Marshall Tucker Band, Stapp, Tonic and Vertical Horizon.
“That’s quite a number,” Baker said.

Taylor Hunnicutt
Friday, 6 p.m.
Taylor Hunnicutt is a singer/songwriter based in Demopolis, Alabama. With roots in Blues, Soul, Country, and Americana, her performances cross genre lines and give audiences a unique and authentic storytelling experience.
Shane Profitt
Friday, 7:30 p.m.
Shane Profitt is an American country music singer. He made his debut in 2022 with the single “How It Oughta Be”.
Vertical Horizon
Saturday, 6 p.m.
Vertical Horizon is an American alternative rock band, formed in Washington, D.C. Vocalists and guitarists Matt Scannell and Keith Kane started the band in 1991 when they were students at Georgetown University. The band have undergone multiple line-up changes since their formation, with Scannell overseeing every iteration as the band’s leader. Vertical Horizon are best known for their Billboard number one single “Everything You Want”, the title track to their third studio album. Other notable singles from the band’s career include “You’re a God”, “Best I Ever Had (Grey Sky Morning)”, and “I’m Still Here”.
Tonic
Saturday, 7:30 p.m.
Tonic is an American rock band, formed in 1993 by Emerson Hart and Jeff Russo. Later members have included Dan Lavery, Kevin Shepard, and Dan Rothchild. Signed to a recording contract in 1995, the band released its debut album Lemon Parade in 1996. The single “If You Could Only See” reached No. 11 on the Billboard Airplay Hot 100 in 1997, and Lemon Parade itself reached platinum status.
Scott Stapp
Saturday, 9 p.m.
Scott Stapp is an American singer, best known as the lead vocalist and lyricist of the rock band Creed. He has also fronted the band Art of Anarchy and has released three solo albums: The Great Divide(2005), Proof of Life (2013), and The Space Between the Shadows (2019).
Stapp has received several accolades, including numerous RIAA certifications. Stapp and Creed bandmate Mark Tremonti won a Grammy Award for Best Rock Song in 2001 as the writers of the Creed song “With Arms Wide Open”. In 2006, Hit Parader ranked Stapp as the 68th-greatest heavy metal vocalist.
The Marshall Tucker Band

The Marshall Tucker Band is an American rock band from Spartanburg, South Carolina. Noted for incorporating blues, country, and jazz into an eclectic sound, the Marshall Tucker Band helped establish the Southern rock genre in the early 1970s.[1] While the band had reached the height of its commercial success by the end of the decade, it has recorded and performed continuously under various line-ups for 50 years. Lead vocalist Doug Gray remains the only original member still active with the band.
