The Bankhead House & Heritage Center’s annual “Under the Stars” kicks off today (Saturday, May 6), with a Best of the ‘70s concert featuring Stuart Upton and Perry Collins.
The event starts at 7 p.m. It is free to attend, and takes place outdoors at the Bankhead House amphitheater.
“Under the Stars” will feature four events from May through August
“We want everyone to join us in the Amphitheater for these fabulous events featuring live music and a family movie night,” said Mimi Hudson, executive director of the Bankhead House and Heritage Center. “We often hear people say there is not much to do in Walker County. We offer these free events so people can come together and enjoy a night out.”
The event lineup for the season is:
• Saturday, May 6, at 7 p.m.
Best of the 1970s performed by Upton and Collins, joined by Aaron Branson, Don Hecklinski and John O’Mary.
• Saturday, June 17, at 7 p.m.
Southern Gospel group The Inspirations will perform.
• Saturday, July 15, at 8 p.m.
The Walt Disney classic “Robin Hood” will be screened. The film features Jasper native George “Goober” Lindsey and Winston County native Pat Buttram as the voices of two characters.
• Saturday, Aug. 19, at 7 p.m.
The Black Sedan Band will perform music from the ‘70s, ‘80s and ‘90s, as well as some current music.
