Cam’s Lemonade, a lemonade stand started by an Alabama mother and son in has grown by leaps and bounds in a year. The business, which began as a one-day event, now sells hundreds of bottles of lemonade at events across the state.
Jasper native Cristal Johnson, founder of Cam’s Lemonade, said she started the business last year to teach her son, Cam, the value of a dollar.
“My son was spending my money like he earned it,” Johnson said. “So, I thought what a perfect way to get him to start learning the value of a dollar.”
Johnson said she was surprised by the success of the lemonade stand.
“We started out selling lemonade at the end of my mom’s driveway,” Johnson said. “We literally sold out at each time.”
Johnson said she is grateful for the support of the community.
“We were blessed to have had two local businesses support us early on, Mojo’s Pizza and Subs in Cordova and Ladybug’s Bakery and Deli in Jasper,” Johnson said.
Cam’s Lemonade will soon be hitting the shelves of Piggly Wiggly stores throughout Walker County and Hueytown. Johnson said she hopes to continue to grow the business and become a nationwide name.
“So many people have been forthcoming with information and donations,” Johnson said. “We really appreciate any donations/sponsors we can receive to help us continue to grow.”
Cam’s Lemonade is available in eight flavors: Original, Pink Lemonade, Mango, Cherry Limeade, Peach, Raspberry, Red Jolly Rancher, and The Hulk. The lemonade is made with fresh lemons and cane sugar.
Johnson said she is excited about the future of Cam’s Lemonade.
Johnson said she is grateful for the support of her community. “I’m so thankful for everyone who has supported us,” she said. “We couldn’t have done it without them.”
Cam’s Lemonade is a family-owned business, and Johnson said she is excited to see what the future holds for the company. “We have big dreams for Cam’s Lemonade,” she said. “We want to be a nationwide brand.”
