Independence Day events scheduled in Walker County

There are several Independence Day events scheduled from Saturday through Tuesday. 

If readers know of any other events, you lease comment below and The Community Journal will add them to the list. 

CORDOVA

Cordova is hosting its third annual Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 1, at its Indian Head Mill Park from noon until 9 p.m. with a fireworks show to finish off the night. The event will have vendors, food trucks, a kids zone and a living history presentation. Live music will start at 1 p.m. The event is free, but kids zone arm bands will be $5.

CARBON HILL

Carbon Hill will hold an Independence Day celebration on Saturday, July 1 at the splash pad, with fireworks and a DJ. Local churches will have booths with food and drinks.

ARGO

Argo First Baptist Church will hold an event on Sunday, July 2 starting at 4 p.m. The church will have a fireworks at 8 p.m. Before the fireworks, there will be free hot dogs, softball games and games of horseshoes. For the children, they will also have free cotton candy and inflatables. 

SUMITON

The Sumiton Church of God will hold its Freedom Fest event from 7-9 p.m. on Sunday, July 2, at the Sumiton Christian School football field. Food trucks, inflatables, rides and fireworks will highlight the event.

OAKMAN

Oakman will hold a 4th of July celebration on Tuesday, July 4, starting at 5 p.m. The event will include food trucks, music, children’s games and a fireworks show after sunset. Carnival games have been secured as well for a $5 fee to play.
