Miss All Awareness Pageant gives out $3k in scholarships

Alabama Diamonds & Pearls Inc. (ADAP) hosted their annual Miss All Awareness Scholarship Pageant on Saturday, June 24 at Bevill State Community College in Jasper, bringing important awareness to causes special to each participant.

The morning started with divisions newborn-4 year olds, then came the 5 year olds- 12 year olds sparkling on stage. The afternoon divisions ages 13-adult ladies took the stage by storm for the opportunity to win a scholarship.

Contestants who were eligible were young ladies who were dual-enrolled, enrolled in college, going to college within the next year or contestants seeking a different path for a career.

“This means a young lady may win a scholarship that could be sent to a school like Jasper Beauty Academy should she decide to go there instead of a community college or four year college” said Heather Evans-Hood, President of ADAP Inc. Hood also said none of this would have been possible without the support from local businesses, who lovingly donated to the scholarship fund, as well as private individuals who offered scholarships in memory of loved ones.

“Myself and our Vice President Kelly Ward offered memorial scholarships in memory of family members, as did Sons Grocery in Jasper. It’s a beautiful way to memorialize loved ones who have passed and bring awareness to causes special to those families,” Hood added.

Over $3000 of scholarships and awards were given that day. Winners included Katie Dozier $1000 Miss All Awareness Scholarship to Bevill State Community College, Josie Sickles $500 Sandra Lee Memorial Scholarship to Bevill College, Madi Hester $600 Kristine Evans Memorial Scholarship, Amanda NeSmith received the $250 Shadow Estes scholarship,  Callie Harris $500 from the Scarlett McClendon McGough Memorial Scholarship, Brylee Bishop & Allison Milligan $250 each, Miss All Awareness Scholarships, Abby Alexander $150 Jacob & Jeremiah Memorial Scholarship from the Reed Family,  Migraine Research Scholarship $100 from the Bolton Family went to Kaitlyn Hiller, and the Jaime Killingbeck Knox Citizenship scholarship award went to Lily Warren.

There were a few businesses who opted to donated gift certificates which ADAP Inc greatly appreciated, Bernard’s Store for Men in Jasper, Gibson Girls Boutique, A Change Boutique, and one Amazon gift card.

“We believe it’s important to recognize those who give back to this community. It supports not only the adult residents, but our children growing up here as well. That is what we are all about, ‘Crowns with Purpose,’” ADAP Inc. Director Brandy Felts said.

ADAP Inc. will be hosting a few more pageants this year. Be sure to check them out on facebook for upcoming events as well as their website.
