The Walker County Democratic Party honored the late Sarah McElrath Thursday during its meeting at Tony’s Down-Home Restaurant in Jasper.
The party presented her children with a plaque. Those in attendance also share memories of McElrath, who was a founding member of the Walker County chapter of the NAACP. McElrath was 92 when she passed away in February.
