Inside the doors of Nona’s Floral Creations, you will find an amazing variety of flowers to meet all your floral needs. Whether you are considering a new custom tabletop arrangement, live plants, decoration flowers or flowers for the passing of a loved one, the business has what you will need.
“But we are not just a florist,” said owner Elizabeth Cousins “We realize not everyone wants to send flowers to the passing of a loved one. We have beautiful sympathy gifts, sympathy cards, and more.”
Cousins said the shop also features many gift items.
“We carry those last-minute gifts that you forget to get for that special birthday party you are on your way too,” she said. “Nonas carries that ‘just because gift’ that you need to give that special someone.”
After several tragedies in her family, Cousins said the business has been an outlet for her.
“Now I don’t believe in coincidences. When you ask God for help, he shows up,” she said. “One day I was browsing Pinterest and saw a wreath that was just beautiful but so expensive. And I thought I could do that at a much more reasonable price, and I did. I started out just making holiday wreathes, selling them to my family and friends.
“A sweet friend of mine said ‘Liz, try decoration flowers.’ I quickly told her no,” she added. “I had never attempted a flower arrangement. She said ‘just try.’ The rest is history. That was January 2022. I started out in my dining room, grew to the garage, spilled out to the driveway, until I knew I had to find a place to grow. I was extremely apprehensive about starting a business on my own, that I had no idea how to run. But we opened in August 2022 and are going strong.”
Nona’s Floral Creations, located in Country Village in Sumiton, is having an open house on Saturday, July 15.
“What I want people to know about the future is that we are not just open during decoration months, we are open Mon-Sat – 9:00-5:00. On July 15 from 10-2 we are having an Open House. There will be refreshments, drawing for a gift basket, door prizes and so much more.”
