The Walker County Commission voted Monday to change the title of EMA Coordinator to EMA Director, a move that will allow Regina Myers, the current holder of the position, to seek a higher certification level within the Emergency Management Agency (EMA).
Commissioners reviewed a letter from the state that indicated the necessity of the title change.
District 1 Commissioner Keith Davis expressed his admiration for Myers and her dedication to her work.
“Regina is an extremely hard worker. There’s a lot in that position that goes on, the focus on real lives. Every time a tanker truck spills or chemicals spill, she’s on that site for hours and hours and hours, and she’s 24/7. she’s done a fantastic job.” Virginia, we appreciate you and enjoy working with you,” Davis said.
Myers expressed her gratitude for the title change, saying, “I would like to thank the Walker County Commission for the change from coordinator to director. The title change allows me to seek a higher certification level within EMA.”
