A shocking murder case has unfolded in Walker County as a local man has been charged with murder after deputies unearthed dismembered human remains in a shallow grave on Wednesday.
The Walker County Sheriff’s Office held a press conference Friday morning to announce the suspect, 30-year-old Kevin Chad McLemore, was apprehended and is currently being held without bond in the Walker County Jail.
The investigation began when deputies received a missing persons report for Terry Linden Drummond on October 7. Drummond, who was last seen on October 4 at approximately 6:30 a.m., was reported missing by his roommate, Kevin Chad McLemore.
Following a preliminary investigation, the Walker County Sheriff’s Office obtained a search warrant for the residence shared by McLemore and Drummond. During the execution of the search warrant, investigators made a chilling discovery – a makeshift, shallow grave concealed under concrete and blocks. Inside the grave, deputies found dismembered human remains carefully placed in plastic bags.
The remains have been sent to the Alabama Department of Science for positive identification.
On Thursday, deputies obtained an arrest warrant for McLemore and promptly took him into custody. He is now facing charges of murder and is being held without bond in the Walker County Jail.
“I’ve been in law enforcement for almost 20 years and I’ve never seen something quite like it,” Sheriff Nick Smith said. “It was a very gruesome, detailed murder. Thanks to these guys and their swift reaction, we were able to make the arrest and hopefully bring closure to this case.”
