Davis decides to not seek re-election to Walker County Commission

By James Phillips, The Community Journal

Walker County District 1 Commissioner Keith Davis has made the decision to not seek re-election for a fourth term on the commission.

In a short statement sent to The Community Journal, Davis cited ongoing health issues as a contributing factor in his decision.

Here is his full statement:

“It is with much thoughtful prayer and consideration, along with ongoing health issues, that I have decided to not seek re-election for a fourth term on the commission. It has been an honor to serve the great folks of Walker County for the past 12 years. I appreciate the kindness and confidence shown to me during my tenure. God Bless,” Keith Davis, Walker County Commissioner District 1.

The race for the District 1 spot on the commission will now come down to Greg Barnes and John Dunagan, who are running as Republicans. The GOP primary will be held on Tuesday, March 5.
