Jasper City Schools, Walker County Schools and Sumiton Christian School will be closing early Tuesday as severe weather is expected to move into central Alabama.
All county schools and Sumiton Christian School will close at 1 p.m.
Bevill State Community College will close all locations at 2:15 p.m.
The National Weather Service has Walker County, along with most of north Alabama along and north of Interstate 20 under and enhanced risk – threat level two out of five – for severe weather.
The threat could include damaging winds up to 70 mph, ping pong ball sized hail, and possible tornadoes.
The latest guidance from NWS indicates the timing for the the severe weather threat is from 3 p.m. until midnight.
