Dora High School announced Tuesday that a former University of Alabama standout will be joining its coaching staff.
Roy Upchurch, a running back who on the 2009 National Championship team at Alabama, will coach football and track at the east Walker school.
“We are excited to have such a great man first and a guy who will add value to our program,” Dora Head Coach Chavis Williams said. “I know he has a championship pedigree and brings a ton of knowledge to our team.”
Upchurch will coach running backs for the Bulldogs. He will also teach science at DHS. He coached last season at Pinson Valley High School.
The Dora coaching staff now boasts three former Alabama standouts with Williams and Upchurch, as well as volunteer coach Terrence Cody.
