Jonathan Morrison, the principal of Carbon Hill Elementary/Jr. High School, has tendered his resignation.
Having served in the role for just over a year, Morrison’s resignation will take effect on Sept. 30.
The Walker County Board of Education approved his resignation during a special meeting on Thursday, where other personnel matters were also approved.
The specific reasons prompting Morrison’s resignation were not disclosed.
Superintendent Dennis Willingham could not comment on the resignation, but said administrative duties will be handled by assistant principal Amy Atkins until a new principal is hired.
Willingham confirmed the position for the principal will be advertised soon with the hopes of hiring a principal at the regular board meeting on Sept. 18.
