JPD holds traffic incident training

Jasper Police Department hosted Traffic Incident Management training on Thursday. The class connects police, fire, EMS, wrecker services and all others who are involved when a traffic incident occurs. It is designed to improve communications between the different entities, ensure safety of all on the scene and reopen roadways efficiently.

“Having responders train together, improves their safety and the safety of the traveling public,” said Ken Colvert, ALDOT West Central Region Automated Traffic Systems Center Manager.

“It improves the understanding of all disciplines to improve their response to any incident on the roadway.”

Representatives from Jasper Police Department, Alabama State Troopers, other area police departments, as well as local utilities and wrecker services attended Thursday’s class.

“The number one goal on a scene is safety,” Jasper Police Chief J.C. Poe said. “The better our communication and planning, the better we can ensure the safety of personnel and the public, as well as clearing the roadway as soon as possible to avoid delays or further accidents.”

Poe also thanked Kilgore Wrecker for providing lunch for the class.
