Outstanding Student: Logan Moncrief, Sumiton Elementary

Logan Moncrief, a fourth grade student at Sumiton Elementary School, is The Community Journal’s Outstanding Student of the Week.

Moncrief does well in all of his academics. He is an all-around excellent student and a great friend to his peers. According to his teacher, JanaBeth Warden, Moncrief has terrific behavior and is always so kind and polite to his peers and all adults. She said Moncrief exemplifies perseverance, determination, hard work and respect.  He is always willing to help out and he works extremely hard to be successful.

“I taught Logan in Kindergarten and this year he is in my homeroom, science and social studies classes,” Warden said. “I’ve watched Logan through the years at Sumiton Elementary School, and I’ve watched him grow, overcome obstacles and achieve so much success. He truly is a special kid and has a special place in my heart.  I’m so proud of him.”

When he grows up, Moncrief wants to be a professional fisherman or golfer. His favorite subjects at school is math and science. Outside of school, Moncrief likes fishing, golfing, playing baseball and soccer.

When asked who he admires, Moncrief admires his father the most because he has always been there for him.
