Desperation Church will be holding a 24/7 prayer event this week on all its campuses, which includes Jasper.
The prayers started Sunday night and will continue through this upcoming Sunday (Feb. 26).
“(The idea) happened really quickly,” said Adam Hicks, pastor of Desperation Church in Jasper. “It wasn’t started due to everything going in Walker County, which I’m sure people will cover in prayer during their prayer time slots. 24/7 is happening at all locations. We’ve been experiencing a lot of ‘ripples’ of revival and felt urgency to lean into what the Holy Spirit is doing.”
Hicks mentioned the revival at Ashbury University in Kentucky that had gone on for the past two weeks.
“It’s happening at Asbury and others colleges as well,” Hicks said. God spoke and we basically cancelled the plan, sermon and series today and talked about all that God was doing and how revivals historically began with prayer and repentance and want to pray for revival over our cities this week.”
The location for the 24/7 prayer in Jasper is at Nelson. Bryan and Cross Law Firm. Desperation church members are signing up for certain time slots to keep the prayers going for the week, but the prayer event is open to anyone of any denomination.
