I know I promised not to get political, but with my phone constantly going off with messages from people I will never meet asking me for money, I can’t help myself.
I wonder where these people stand on issues that matter to curmudgeons, like the switching from regular time to daylight savings time and back. I barely get over one switch before it’s time to change back or forth — whatever. It’s confusing.
My understanding is that a whole bunch of states passed legislation concerning this, but Congress has to vote on it to make it legal. Well, Katie Britt? Excuse me, Tommy Tubberville? It’s been a couple of years.
Next, I would like somebody in the Alabama Legislature to draft a bill for mandatory clothing labels to protect the public at large. These labels would say something like “Age 30 and Under.”
This would prevent poor misguided old souls from trying to dress like their grandchildren. No leggings would be sold without an attached skirt or tunic, because leggings are not pants! Showing your dimples when you smile is adorable, but showing your dimples when you walk away? Not so much.
Some clothing would not be manufactured in sizes larger than medium. To buy age restricted garments, you’d need a picture ID or a child, who would actually wear the article out of the store.
This may seem like overreach to some, but a trip to Walmart will prove my point. We tried letting people choose their own clothes and we are seeing the fallout from that decision every day.
The Community Curmudgeon will share a rant every other week via The Community Journal. Please behave or something you do could become the basis for one of his/her rants.Â
