Curry, Sumiton Christian, Carbon Hill fall in region games

Curry lost its homecoming game 40-24 to Hamilton on Friday night. 

Curry had outstanding performances from Collin Page and Josh Day on offense. Page had touchdown receptions of 42 and 24 yards. Josh Day overcame an injury early in the first half to get Curry’s offense going in the second half, tossing three touchdown passes. 

Ian Tuggle led the defense with 10 tackles and two sacks.

Curry is now 2-5 overall and 0-4 in Class 4A, Region 5 plays at Haleyville next week.

South Lamar 7, Sumiton Christian 0

Sumiton Chrisian fell 7-0 to South Lamar in a Class 1A, Region 5 battle at Millport on Friday night.

The only score in the game came just before halftime. 

The Eagles (3-3, 2-3) host Marion County in a region game next week. 

Gordo 56, Carbon Hill 14

Carbon Hill was defeated 56-14 by No. 2-ranked Gordo on Thursday night. 

Carbon Hill managed to score one touchdown in each half. Devon Daniel scored on a 41-yard run in the second quarter, while Walker Kimbrell hit Cam DeJesus on a 5-yard pass for a score in the fourth quarter. 

Daniel rushed for 138 yards and a score on 19 carries.

Carbon Hill (0-6, 0-3)  plays at Winfield next week.
