TCJ Outstanding Student: Rukia Chapel, Dora High School

Rukia Chapel is a member of the Class of 2023 that has maintained a 4.0 GPA throughout her years at Dora High School. She is The Community Journal Outstanding Student of the Week.

Chapel has been a member of the Dora Lady Dogs basketball and softball teams for 4 years and has contributed to the success of these teams through her ability to lead and inspire.

“I am nominating Rukia because of the strength she has exhibited since the death of her mom at the beginning of her sophomore year. With the support of a loving family, she has shown resilience and literally smiled through her pain,” Dora Principal Paige Abner said.

Chapel plans to attend the University of West Georgia and become a nurse.

Editor’s note: If you would like to nominate an Outstanding Student of the Week, please email [email protected] or send a private message to The Community Journal’s Facebook page. What we need is a photo of the student, what grade and school they attend, why they are being nominated and what their future plans are. Any student from Walker County currently enrolled from kindergarten through college may be nominated.
