District Judge Allison Jones was sworn-in during a public ceremony Tuesday at Five Loaves Bakery in downtown Jasper.
“I’m very honored that the governor of Alabama appointed me to this position,” Jones said during remarks to the large crowd at the ceremony. “I hit the ground running on July 18 and started hearing cases then. I’ve heard a lot of cases already.”
Jones was appointed by Gov. Kay Ivey as Walker County’s first female district judge to serve in the 14th Judicial Circuit as a replacement for current Circuit Judge Greg Williams.
“I have had to learn a lot, but I’ve had some amazing support,” she said. “We have some amazing judges who have helped me through everything. I absolutely love what I’m doing so far, and I intend on staying in this position.”
Circuit Judge Doug Farris presided over the ceremony. He said Jones has been a welcomed addition to the Walker County Courthouse.
“Allison has done a great job so far. We are happy to have her as a district judge,” Farris said.
Jones has been married to her husband, Trent, for 16 years.They live in Jasper and have two children (Elliot, 13, and Keller, 9).
