Four arrested, one charged with trafficking fentanyl

Four men were arrested Wednesday in connection with a drug investigation by the Walker County Sheriff’s Office. 

Sgt. Josh Edwards of the Sheriff’ office narcotics investigation division obtained a search warrant for a residence near Albritton Road on American Junction Road.

 SWAT, narcotics and K-9 units executed the search warrant on Wednesday morning. 

 Investigators seized approximately 57 grams of fentanyl, which is usually sold by the 1/10th of a gram. Investigators also seized 15 grams of methamphetamine. 

Kevin Lavar Cooley, 44 of Parrish, was arrested and charged with trafficking fentanyl and possession with intent to distribute a controlled substance.

Jerbreah Aquila Davis Meadows, 39 of Sumiton, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.

James Lesley Early Jr., 52 of Jasper, was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia

 John Thomas Herzig, 48 of Jasper,  was arrested and charged with possession of drug paraphernalia.  

“This large seizure of fentanyl has saved countless lives, preventing drug overdoses in our communities”, Sheriff Nick Smith said. “Investigators have reason to believe some of the fentanyl was destined for the Sipsey community.
