Two arrested in Pisgah church theft

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office earlier in the week took a report for a theft at Pisgah Baptist Church. The complaint was that two individuals removed the catalytic converter from a van belonging to the church.

Surveillance video from the church showed two suspects wearing masks in an effort to conceal their identities.

“Our Investigative Division went right to work on this, and immediately developed two suspects with help from YOUR tips,” Sheriff Nick Smith said.

The investigation led investigators Friday to the 3000 block of Pineywoods-Sipsey Road. When law enforcement arrived at the residence, two male subjects were sitting outside.

One of those males was identified as one of our suspects.  Investigators then noticed evidence of catalytic converter thefts, along with a mask, backpack and jacket matching the description of those work in the surveillance video.

Two individuals were arrested and officially charged later Friday.

Aaron Lee Smith is charged with Theft of Property First Degree, Criminal Mischief First Degree, and Unlawful Possession of Drug Paraphernalia.

Starla Nicole Sims is charged with Theft of Property First Degree, Criminal Mischief First Degree, and Unlawful Possession of a Controlled Substance.

The investigation is continuing, according to sheriff’s office officials.
