A community prayer breakfast will take place Wednesday, Feb. 8, at the Jasper Community Center.
The event, which is sponsored by the City of Jasper and organized by pastors in the area, is free and open to anyone. It is set to begin at 8 a.m. and is expected to last an hour. Breakfast will be from Dunkin’ Donuts.
Adam Brewer, pastor at Glory Fellowship Church, is one of the organizers. He said the event will be “light on the breakfast; heavy in the prayer.”
“I am thankful we have the opportunity for our community to come together and seek Jesus’ guidance. My desire is for this to be a simple and serious gathering to focus and pray,” Brewer added.
The room will be set up with round tables. There will be several different focuses of prayer, including times to pray for thankfulness, repentance, community leaders, first responders/medical professionals, schools/education personnel, extracurricular events/teams and area churches.
Adam Hicks, pastor of Desperation Church’s Jasper campus, called it “an amazing honor” to participate in the event.
“Every revival in history began with prayer, repentance and unity,” Hicks said. “I believe Feb. 8 will be a monumental day in Jasper for the Kingdom of God. Prayer is always our first response, not our last resort.”
All denominations are welcome at the prayer breakfast and expected to participate. Alan Beasley, pastor at First Methodist Church-Jasper, said the event is important for the community.
“I believe it will be beneficial to our community on many levels helping Jasper and Walker County become spiritually vibrant,” he said.
Jasper Mayor David O’Mary said he is thankful the prayer breakfast is happening and expects a good attendance.
“It is something we should have done before now. This will be a time we can acknowledge our many blessings,” O’Mary said.
