WCSO dispatches helicopter to locate parolee

Walker County Sheriff’s Office on Tuesday afternoon assisted State Probation Officers from the Alabama Pardons and Paroles in a search for a parolee that removed his ankle bracelet. The Jasper Police Department also responded to assist.

That assistance included the Sheriff’s Aviation Division, who flew the area around Highway 269 and Highway 69 during the search.

Ronnie Lynn Painter, 47, Townley, was one of the 369 inmates that were recently given an early release from prison. Painter’s original charge was Robbery 3rd degree.

After some time searching the area, two citizens in the west Jasper area spotted Painter and contacted authorities.

Probation officers and sheriff’s deputies quickly responded to the area and took custody of Painter and he was taken to the county jail by probation officials.

Painter is being held for parole violation.
