Allred elected Alabama Association of District Judges President

Walker County District Judge Henry Allred has been elected as President of the Alabama Association of District Judges.

Allred was elected to the position last week during the association’s summer conference. The association is made up of the 106 district judges throughout the state of Alabama. Allred is succeeding Judge Shelly Waters of Morgan County.

Allred has served as District Judge of Walker County since January 2009 and has served as Presiding Juvenile Court Judge since that time. Allred assumed the duties of Presiding District Judge in 2012.

Allred currently handles all District criminal matters, is responsible for all juvenile actions, and presides over the Drug and Veterans Courts. Allred also serves as a specially designated Circuit Judge in some cases.

This new role will have Allred handle appointments for committees and other positions in the association. He will also work with the association to advocate on policies and legislation that impact the courts.

“I am deeply honored to be chosen for this position by the district judges of the state of Alabama. I know the quality of the women and men who serve as judges across this state. I appreciate the confidence that they have shown in me and the way I have worked to serve the people of Walker County,” Allred said.
