McConaughey film shooting in Walker County again

“The Rivals of Amziah King,” starring Matthew McConaughey, is filming in Walker County again.

After filming at The Frosty Mug in late June, the crew is back in the area today, filming at Camp O’Rear off Curry Highway in Jasper.

There is no official word if McConaughey or co-star Kurt Russell will be involved in the scenes currently being shot here.

Despite the current actors strike, “The Rivals of Amziah King” is continuing to shoot due to an interim agreement approved by SAG-AFTRA, according to a Facebook post by Goleman Casting.

Freedom Assembly of God is serving as the staging location for this part of the shoot.

“Very excited to be the host of the base site this week for the movie crew with Mathew McConaughey’s new movie ‘The Rivals of Amzeah King,’” the church posted on its Facebook page.

The Walker County Sheriff’s Office is providing security and traffic control again for the production and is urging motorists to be extra cautious while traveling in that area of Curry Highway.
